Alex works on a number of projects that employ innovation and enterprise to create social impact. This includes establishing the Yunus Centre at Griffith University, strategic support to social enterprises, and providing advisory services to public sector and philanthropic organisations.
Alex serves on the Boards of B Lab Australia and New Zealand, the Aotearoa New Zealand Advisory Board for Impact Investment, and Pomegranate Kitchen - a catering social enterprise supporting former refugees.
Up until the end of 2017, Alex was CEO of the Ākina Foundation - New Zealand's primary support organisation for social enterprise, and the New Zealand Government's strategic partner on sector development.
Before that, based in the UK, Alex was Director of Programmes at LEAD - a global network focused on leadership and sustainable development. And also Head of Partnerships at the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) - a global initiative providing technical advice and services to decision makers in developing countries.
He holds a Masters in Development with distinction from Victoria University of Wellington, where he also guest lectures on social entrepreneurship and enterprise.
Alex is based in Wellington, and available for contracts nationally, and internationally.
