How to close down a business - and do it well

How you end a business is, I believe, just as important as how you start one. Closing up is not always an easy decision to make, and sometimes we don’t even really have a choice! But once you’ve reconciled yourself to the end of this particular chapter, it’s important to manage next steps well.
I worked with the excellent humans at Lifehack, as they navigated this journey at the conclusion of their multi-year project. We thought it would be useful to others to read about the steps we took, so I wrote a short piece as a resource for anyone navigating business closure. The context is definitely Aotearoa New Zealand, so keep that in mind with the specific references to the IRD and the Companies Office! I’ve put together a small set of templates and examples too, and I hope you’ll find them useful.
